Car Service Tip: How To Check Tyre Age

Getting tyres for your car? How can you tell that they are brand new and weren't growing old on the shelf for two years? Look numbers and letter melted into the tyre.

In the photo above "8PY0806" reveals that the car tyre is an 8 ply tyre. The greater the plys the stronger and more resistant against punctures the tyre is going to be. "0806" means that the car tyre had been manufactured on the eighth week of 2006, which means late February in 2006.

So when you notice these "new" going on special next week you are now aware that the tyre is really six years old.

Drive safe :-)
